Basic introduction

The HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, Chinese Proficiency Test) is an international standardized test of Chinese language proficiency. It focuses on assessing the ability of non-native Chinese speakers to use Chinese for communication in daily life, studies, and work. The HSK consists of two parts: a written test and an oral test, which are independent of each other. The written test includes HSK levels 1 to 6, while the oral test includes HSK levels Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced, and is conducted in a recorded audio format.

HSK Level 1

HSK Level 1 is primarily designed for students who have studied Chinese for one semester (half a year) at a pace of 2-3 lessons per week. It targets candidates who have mastered around 150 of the most commonly used words and relevant grammar knowledge.

HSK Level 1 consists of a total of 40 questions, divided into two sections: listening and reading. Each section is further divided into four parts, with 5 questions in each part.

The entire exam takes about 40 minutes, including a 5-minute period for candidates to fill in their personal information.
